Wingspan Director Justin Huang recently participated in an FO PRO Expert Roundtable, contributing his insights on how family offices can engage the rising generation through innovative investment strategies. The conversation explored how younger family members’ interests in cutting-edge technologies, like cryptocurrency, or alternative asset classes, such as real estate, can spark engagement while reinforcing best practices in governance and education.

Justin shared an example of a family office where the Rising Gen member brought a strong foundation in finance and investment before stepping into a leadership role. With a master’s in finance and prior experience at a real estate investment fund, this individual led the family’s real estate investment arm while adhering to a rigorous approval process and maintaining risk and asset allocation parameters. Over time, this approach delivered industry-leading returns and underscored the value of combining expertise with structured governance.

While crypto investments dominated much of the discussion, Justin’s contribution highlights that the real value lies not in the specific asset class but in creating a framework where next-gen members can independently develop their skills, earn trust, and contribute meaningfully to the family’s investment strategy.
